Deane Comer - Firefighter / Paramedic
• How long have you been in the fire service? Since 2004
• Are there any other public safety agencies that you do/have worked for? Just the Air Force
• What prompted you to join/apply? I wanted to since High School and back then the waiting list was so long at Macon/Bibb I then talked with an Air Force recruiter, and they told me I could be an EMT in the Air Force. That didn’t work out. I ended up being an aircraft mechanic and loved it the whole time.
• Tell us a little about you and your family - Corrie and I have been married 19 years and have four adopted children. Nate 17, Jersey 16, John 11, and Reagan 9. Then I have Whitney my oldest child is 36, and her husband Chris. And 3 grandchildren Trystan, Tate, and Taylor.
• What are your interests and activities when not at work? When we’re not doing sports things with the kids we’re in Florida camping and going to Disney. I like riding my motorcycle and flying the paramotor.

How long have you been in the fire service? I’ve been in the fire service for a year and 4 months (since October 2022)
• Are there any other public safety agencies that you do/have worked for? I also work for 343 Ambulance Service doing nonemergent transport
• What prompted you to join/apply? I’ve always wanted to help people and working for Fire/EMS was a great way for me to feel like I was making a difference in people’s lives.
• Tell us a little about you and your family - I’m currently 24 years old. I was born and raised in Augusta, GA. I come from a military family and I have 4 sisters and 1 brother (I’m the youngest). Growing up, my favorite memory would have to be playing games against the neighborhood kids with my siblings because we always had a built-in team and no one got left out.
• What are your interests and activities when not at work? When I’m not at work I enjoy working out, playing video games, cooking, and playing with my dogs.
• Favorite quote - My favorite quote is “Cogito ergo sum” by René Descartes because it always gives me an extra push whenever I doubt myself.
